The Environmental Finance Center Network was a sponsor of the Paying for Sustainable Water Infrastructure Conference. The conference brought together stakeholders from all levels of government and the private sector to explore creative methods to pay for sustainable water infrastructure today and into the future. It was the first of its kind to address the challenge of integrating the many diverse tools and strategies to pay for sustainable water infrastructure.

Four trackswere offered:
Sustainable Water Infrastructure
SRFs and Federal Assistance Programs – A Fresh Perspective
State and Local Innovations
International Innovations in Finance, Technologies, and Management

The Director of the UNC EFC, Jeff Hughes, served as the track leader for the "State and Local Innovations." Participants in this track discussed unique investment approaches to address similar water infrastructure challenges and had opportunities to learn from peers with similar problems and alternative solutions. It utilized case studies, from various states and localities, and explained how similar strategies can be applied elsewhere. Topics includde new developments in financial institutions and instruments, as well as innovative technologies, management, procurement, and other related areas.
EFC was also involved in working with exhibitors and sponsors for the conference.
