priorities is the effective transfer of information from the scientific
research communities to those involved in the resource decision-making
process on our coast. |

of local government entities funding septic repair programs,
and a companion catalogue

Grants.gov allows organizations to electronically
find and apply for competitive grant opportunities from all Federal
grant-making agencies. Grants.gov is the single access point for
over 900 grant programs offered by the 26 Federal grant-making
agencies. This website provides a simple, unified electronic storefront
for interactions between grant applicants and the Federal agencies
that manage grant funds. The
US Department of Health and Human Services is the managing
partner for Grants.gov. |
EPA has produced a guide to help local governments
navigate the nearly two dozen federal programs that can help communities
in one way or another to assess, cleanup and reuse brownfields.
Although only a few of these federal programs focus explicitly
on brownfields, if communities apply some creativity to make the
brownfields connection they can benefit from many other federal
programs. |

This catalog describes over 1,000 domestic assistance
programs administered by the federal government. The catalog is
updated by the U.S. General Services Administration twice a year
in June and December. As a basic reference source for federal
programs, the catalog helps users identify programs that meet
their objectives and obtain information on federal assistance
programs. In addition, the catalog is intended to improve coordination
and communication between the federal government and state, local,
and tribal governments. |

An EPA web site with links to grant opportunities,
fellowship opportunities, grant writing assistance and links to
regional grant information. |

This resource guide, first published in December
1996, was expanded in August 1998. While somewhat dated, this
guide still provides a good starting place for identifying federal
and private solid waste financial assistance.
The US EPA developed this grant resource guide to help tribes,
Alaska native villages, and community and nonprofit organizations
identify financial assistance opportunities for their solid waste
management programs. The guide also helps organizations find specific
information on obtaining tax-exempt status, locating other grant
resources, and preparing successful grant proposals. |

The EPA Catalog of Federal Funding Sources for
Watershed Protection web site is a searchable database of financial
assistance sources (grants, loans, cost-sharing) available to
fund a variety of watershed protection projects.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA's)
State and Local Capacity Building Branch has updated its 52-page
funding opportunities directory. This directory is designed to
help identify financial and technical assistance opportunities
for efforts that reduce energy costs, improve air quality and
public health, and enhance opportunities for economic development.
Funding
Opportunities: A Directory of Energy Efficiency, Renewable Energy,
and Environmental Protection Assistance Programs provides
an extensive list of grants available from EPA, other federal
agencies, state governments, and private foundations. Grants are
organized by topic, with detailed descriptions and contact information
for each grant. The document also provides links to online resources
with more information.

Committed watershed organizations and state and
local governments need adequate resources to achieve the goals
of the Clean Water Act and improve our nation's water quality.
To support these efforts, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
(EPA) has created this Web site to provide tools, databases, and
information about sources of funding to practitioners and funders
that serve to protect watersheds. |

The water sector can compete for funds allocated
under the Homeland Security Grant Program and for funds to secure
critical infrastructure under the Infrastructure Protection Program.
The grants will enhance the water sector’s ability to prepare
for, respond to and recover from manmade and naturally occurring
events. The Water Security Grant and Funding Matrix provides information
to the water sector on grants and funding available for water
security related measures. It identifies the major opportunities
offered by the Department of Homeland Security and its Federal
Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and provides specific background,
eligibility criteria, application timelines, available funding,
and acceptable uses of that funding.
Also, the EPA offers advice on how DWSRF and CWSRF
funds can be used for secruity or resilience enhancements.
